Here you will find the real Holland with its beautiful polders, cheese-cover farmhouses and delicious regional products. A down-to-earth West Frisian does not shout it from the rooftops, but we are proud of it!
For centuries, for example, the beautiful West Frisian Omringdijk protected much of North Holland from the advancing sea. The 126 kilometers long dike is therefore the symbol of the West Frisian struggle against the water. The castle 't Huys te Nuwendore from the thirteenth century, between the villages Krabbendam and Eenigenburg, was once destroyed by a breach of the West Frisian Omringdijk.
