Valkkoog

The village of Valkkoog, with only a few hundred inhabitants, lies at the foot of the Valkkogerdijk. This dike (from the year 1248) is even older than the Westfriese Omringdijk! The winding Valkkogerdijk shows well the battle the West Frisians once waged against the water. Because of the embankments, breaches, and excavations, this dike is of great historical value.

Valkkoog is under the smoke of provincial town Schagen where you can go for all things "city". Are you more of a peace and quiet person? The fifteenth-century church of Valkkoog regularly hosts classical concerts. Close your eyes and enjoy.
