This is especially a place to enjoy the best views of the North Holland polder landscape. This is because the village of Sint Maarten lies at the foot of the Westfriese Omringdijk. This 126-kilometer monument is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and was built in the sixteenth century by West Frisian farmers with diligent labor, to protect humans and animals from salt water. Now it is mostly a place to cycle or walk on.
Sint Maarten has a quiet location four kilometers from the dunes and two kilometers from the beautiful city of Schagen. Just a little air in the tires and in less than no time you are standing with your feet in the North Sea or finely shopping among the city's monuments.
