Battle of the Somme Museum

In the eastern, medieval castle tower of the Slot Schagen you will find a collection of objects from the First World War. The museum is located in a medieval castle tower at Slotplein 2, Schagen. It was founded in 1974 by Sembeau Lecocq (1921-1999) this was a naturalized Frenchman whose hobby was WWI.

The name Somme Museum comes from the fact that the soil finds come from the so-called "Somme region," which is an arrondissement in northern France about 70 kilometers across the Belgian-French border where the second half of 1916 saw an intense battle.
