West Frisian market - Day of Crafts

Day of Crafts / Opening Day.

Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. numerous old crafts to admire on the Nieuwstraat. So the real crafts! There is also a hand crank organ playing on the Nieuwstraat. And from 12.00 noon Tanning of sails, quill writing.

Extensive lace-making demonstrations, as well as the cheesemaker, rope-maker and bookbinder will also be present and show how work was done in the past.

As an additional festivity during the opening day, shanty choir the Scheepstuygh will perform. Already several times they were our guests, 'het Scheepstuygh' from Schagen. They will perform around the Market Square.

9 a.m. Harnessing and harnessing the horses in the Music Garden behind Museum Vreeburg.    

9 a.m.-3 p.m. Old Crafts on New Street.  

10 a.m. West Frisians gather at the corner of New Low Side/Stationsweg (café Spoorzicht) for the parade.

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The tower on the Market Square can be climbed for a small fee, in the tower the exhibition; "Time goes fast" with many historical photos of West Frisian Folklore.

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Woodturner in old forge at Vreeburg.

10:45 a.m. Start of parade from the New Low Side.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. N.H. Church in Market Square organ playing by Sebastiaan Schippers.

11:25 a.m. Children's dance group performance on the church platform in Market Square.

11:45 a.m. Children's bread meal in the Marketplace.

11:45 a.m. Performance West Frisian dance group on church platform in Market Square.

12 p.m. Tanning of sails and quill writing, at the corner of Market/New Street.

12 p.m. - 1 p.m. The farrier shoes horses in front of Museum Farm Vreeburg on the Loet.

12:30 p.m. Musical performance by shanty choir "het Scheepstuygh" on the dance stage near the church.

1 p.m. Opening reception for invited guests.

1:15 - 3:00 p.m. Skroif group Hoogwoud in the coffee room of the church in Market Square. They sing and tell anecdotes in beautiful unctuous West Frisian.
